We are low maintenance, so we want a low maintenance tea pot where we can leave the water in the kettle, and pour off some hot water without journeying over to get a pot holder. This tea pot seems to shed heat away from the handle enough for a lazy-bones like me if I'm careful to not set the heat as high as possible.The only conspicuous part of the operation is the very sticky lid. It requires a deliberate push to tightly seal the lid onto the pot, but that also means it won't slip off and cause problems. If I need to refill the hot tea kettle, I have to be careful in removing that well stuck lid - a very minor demerit. We also chose this pot because it had to have a loud whistle, and I agree with other reviewers that this kettle has a strong, unmistakable whistle.
